I have attended the Grenada workboat competition for a number of years and have shot it a number of times.
Essentially it is a competition between people in different towns in Grenada sailing their boats against each other which takes 2 days - there is a big party in the middle of that!
What I find fascinating is that most of the boats are NOT set up for sails and that things like rigging are pretty basic - sometimes not but mostly so.
I love to go on Saturday mornings as the people are trying to get the boats set up which includes fabricating spars, drilling holes, and cutting bamboo pieces to attach to the sails. The faces and expressions as people pull, cut, and attach things are just wonderful in my opinion.
To be honest I do not care a lot about the actual racing - I take a few images of that but my focus is on the prep.
I have shot this for a number of years - please feel free to review all of the images, download any of these images and share and enjoy them!!!
Come and attend next year - It will be in February!
